Onglyza & Kombiglyze XR Facts & History

Onglyza and Kombiglyze XR have been made a part of multidistrict litigation (MDL) no. 2809. Currently, this MDL consists of more than 328 total claims. In light of the increase in lawsuits and the overwhelming number of Americans diagnosed with diabetes each year, Onglyza and Kombiglyze XR litigation is expected to increase in the future.

Onglyza and Kombiglyze XR are Type 2 diabetes drugs that help control high blood sugar. The active ingredient in Onglyza and one of the main active ingredients in Kombiglyze XR is saxagliptin. People who take drugs that contain saxagliptin may have a greater risk for serious and potentially life-threatening injuries, including heart failure and pancreatic cancer.

Patients who suffered heart problems filed lawsuits against AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb, the manufacturer of these drugs, alleging the manufacturers' failure to warn about the medications' risk.
